I love this place! The staff is always friendly! The portions are huge and picture worthy every time! My girlfriend and I have been coming here for years and will continue to!

I remember eating here when I was younger and thinking it was pretty decent, but I recently ordered takeout and there were several problems with my order and the service I received. 1) Most of the food was so salty that it was difficult to eat, 2) I ordered one dish without carrots, and it came with carrots in addition to be flavorless. In fact, where everything else was so salty as to be off-putting, this dish was devoid of any seasoning at all, 3) Three of the dishes I ordered contained carrots. In all three, the carrots had clearly gone off. They were brown/black, pliable, and generally unappealing to look at., 4) When my aunt picked up the food, the staff refused to give her more than one ~1.5 oz. tub of chili sauce even though we ordered at least 6 dishes., 5) When my mother called to let them know that we were dissatisfied with our food, the staff repeatedly insisted that no one else had complained and that we were making it up. When we offered to come in and show them the rotten carrots we received, they hung up. When we called back, they hung up again. I'm not sure what kind of business model these people are using, but it is exceedingly faulty and absolutely does not make me want to return or give them any more of my money.

This may be long, sorry. Please NEVER eat at Mayas in sedro woolley. I picked up a to go order and came home to feed my husband and two small children. Immediately my husband noticed his chicken wasn't cooked. I tried a bite and spit it out. I went in asking for a refund because my chicken wasn't cooked. The cook proceeded to yell in my face, which quickly turned into screaming refusing to give me a refund but said he would give me a new one. I denied wanting anything else from Mayas. All I wanted was my money back. Once I said no, he came back full force screaming with spit flying everywhere with his finger in my face. Customers were coming in to eat and we're witnessing this. One lady's child was so scared she covered his ears and literally ran out. Once the cook saw this, he continued to scream saying now I am making his customers leave. I NEVER once yelled, used any profanity, or got into anyone's face. I said I would be glad to leave as soon as I got my money back. He refused. I offered to only got a refund on the chicken, but still pay for the rice, soup, and chow mein. He still proceeded to scream. He then continued to scream saying that I am the ONLY customer complaint he has EVER had while being a cook and in business. By then I was ready to give up and leave, but my husband works very hard for his money and we were out 25.00 so I felt I should get a refund for the UNCOOKED chicken. Another customer came in with two children in the midst of him yelling and screaming and they scurried out as fast as they could. This made him even angrier and in my face to the point where I was in tears. I was shaking and scared. My phone was dead, so I asked them to call the police. They said okay and ran to the back. A few minutes later an officer came into the building and asked where the "uncontrollable customer" was. I waved my hand while crying and he was in shock. Apperently, Mayas told the officer that I was out of control and had a weapon. I did not have any weapons on me. Just a dead cell phone, my car keys, and my ID. The officer took me outside and asked what happened and I explained the story. The officer could clearly tell i was shooken up and did not have any weapons. He ran my information and left me outside with another officer while he went inside to talk with the cook. The officer came out explaining he couldnt force the business to refund me but I received 10.00$ refund for a 25.00 meal. By then I was more focused on how the cook handled the situation and was terrified of him. I am thankful I asked them to call the police to come. I'd like to state again that I never once yelled, screamed, or used any profanity. This all happened so quickly that yes, I should of just left but there I was stuck thinking of how hard my husband works for his money and now we were out of 25.00 and dinner. I will NEVER eat there again. It was only my 3rd time in a 5 year span and thankfully my last. I WILL be calling the health department tomorrow and I ask that you all avoid this restaurant because of the terrifying experiance I had AND because of the food that wasn't cooked. If you had a good experiance there in the past, then great. However this was mine over simply asking for a small refund. Instead of giving me 15$ back, he ended up causing his customers that came in to leave which he could of got their business and their money. Talk about bad customer service and business management.

We stopped in on our way to Deming hoping for a nice dinner. We were pleasantly surprised! The chow mein was amazing. Vegetables were so fresh and crisp, and the fried rice was very good as well. We will definitely stop by again on our next drive through.

Experience was nearly exactly the same as previous reviewer David V., except we ate in. The food was extremely salty. We kindly tried to say that is was overly salted and were met with a pretty harsh response from the waitress. We were told that we could switch our dish out for another but that nothing would be removed from our bill. The food and service was bad enough that we weren't willing to try another dish. The manager, who appears to also be the chef, actually came out and YELLED at us telling us that he has never had a complaint before and we were just making it up. Umm really? We were forced to pay for the whole meal, which we couldn't even eat.

This place used to be really good but they must be under new ownership because my most recent experience was totally disgusting! I will never go back. The filling in the pot stickers and wontons is of unknown origin (soft pink goop which tastes somewhat fishy) and the grease, omg the grease. I squeezed a potsticker and grease just oozed out! The Mongolian beef was beef in brown gravy with some extra grease. The sweet and sour prawns and pork was greasy even for fried food. What I managed to eat made me feel like I gained 40 pounds, I was still feeling the effects days later. Just gross.

This place gets one star only because I cannot give it zero. I'm a vegetarian. Cultural differences aside, we shouldn't be made to feel like we're inconveniencing a restaurant to have them withhold meat from a dish. Lunch "specials" all have meat. When I then ordered something else, they were frustrated and it took them forever to get it to me. Restaurant condition: FAIR to POOR. This place may have been a decent place to eat 25 years ago, but most of the upholstery is worn and damaged. It needs paint. It cannot look clean when it's like this, so that's an issue, too. Staff: Inappropriate and impatient. Like another reviewer mentioned, the man (cook) in the back is frequently overheard yelling in what I presume is Chinese. Not exactly pleasant ambiance! Food quality: POOR. On a recent take out purchase, we had carrots with black spots on them, excessive salt on all dishes and one of the take out meals was completely wrong. When we called to complain, the woman kept rephrasing what we were saying and doing so incorrectly. When she became frustrated she handed the phone to a man who claimed that our food could not have been too salty because no one else had made that claim that day. What kind of logic is that? When pressed further, he hung up. These people don't like to bend. They intend to serve you whatever it is they want you to have and they only make exceptions with a rude manner. When they get something wrong, they don't want to own up to it or do anything about making it right. Steer clear of May Ya!

I don't profess to be any aficionado in Chinese cuisine or even Chinese-American cuisine but I can hold my own in areas of cleanliness, customer service, friendliness, and basic math, and May Ya ranks highly in all three of these areas in my book. I'm told they've been in business in this same Sedro Woolley location for 25 years and no one can deny that's amazing in a small rural town that was much smaller 25 years ago. So no matter what anybody says about authenticity of their "Chinese" food, they've clearly been receiving the support of their customers for a long time. They're stayed in business when others haven't. Case closed. They have a handful of daily lunch specials for $4.99 and $5.99. We're talking real food, not the fast-food catastrophe of Micky D's or Jack or or the King. Dinner prices are definitely reasonable. The service is friendly and gracious. If you're a regular they're glad to see you and will greet you by name. Their complimentary hot tea is dark and bold, not clear and weak. I'm definitely a fan.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
